Sharif Ali bin Al Hussein Al Harethi, of the Hawareth sharifs, was born in 1895. Although he was young when the Revolt started, his bravery in leading campaigns landed him a leadership position in the field. He joined Prince Faisal in Aqaba, leading a campaign that reached Azraq and Wadi Yarmouk, before rejoining Faisal in Syria.

In late 1920, he accompanied Prince Abdullah to Maan. He was then tasked by the Prince to go to Amman to scout the area. He contributed to the formation of the Emirate. In 1922, he returned to Hijaz. He died in 1955.
